September 9th was Hug Your Hounds Day and October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, so here at Protection 1 we’ve decided to take a moment to recognize the importance of our four-legged friends. Animals can be extraordinarily beneficial to the lives of humans, and caring for them just shows appreciation for all the little ways they help. So visit your local shelter and go for a walk, visit the park, and have fun exploring the outdoors. It’s good for you, your pet, and helps promote a healthy lifestyle!
Studies have shown that having a pet boosts the immunity of young children and reduces the risk they will develop allergies and asthma later in life. Pet owners often report lower stress levels and better mental balance, with their pets providing excellent opportunities to engage in other beneficial activities. Taking them for a walk or a dog park helps with getting exercise and both human and animal social interaction alike. What’s there not to love?
And speaking of love… it’s pretty common knowledge that having a dog can even help you get a date! It’s all the more reason to enjoy some rainy day weather by cuddling up on the couch with your loved ones and all your furry family members!
Animals often require special care and consideration beyond simple grooming, feeding and exercise. They enjoy socialization and freedom just like humans. In terms of your alarm system, if your home is outfitted with motion detectors, you may want to make sure they have pet-friendly sensors. These allow animals to move comfortably around your home while the alarm system is armed without triggering the alarm.
The loud alarm siren can cause animals to panic or become irritated, as they have more sensitive ears than humans. When you’re performing your monthly alarm tests, let your pets outside. It only takes a few moments but it will keep everyone in your home much happier.
If you have mischievous pets and feel the need to keep an eye on them, Protection 1’s video cameras offer a great way for you to monitor pets over from anywhere in the world. By using a smartphone, tablet, or computer with Internet access, you can control video cameras and set up email notifications to send video clips to you when any cameras have been activated.
