Protection 1 Goes for the Gold

Sunday, February 23rd marked the end of the Go for the Gold Challenge here at Protection 1. The three week long Olympic-themed event was the first wellness challenge of the year for our employees and it proved to be another success!

The program centered on individual goal setting and participants focused on three goals per week. The goals were associated with our three areas of our wellness program: fitness, nutrition and mind/spirit. Employees could choose any three goals they wished to work on, such as drinking more water, reading a book for 15 minutes a day, or walking 7,500 steps a day. They could keep the same goals for all three weeks and try to create a healthy habit or they could mix it up. For each day that one of their goals was met, participants earned a point, with a maximum of 3 points per day and 21 points per week.

At the end of the three week period, we tallied the points and awarded “medals”. Anyone that had an average of meeting every goal for at least 6 days a week earned a “gold”, anyone that had an average of at least 4 days a week earned a “silver” and anyone that met their goals on an average of 2 days a week got a “bronze”.

I am proud to announce that we ended up with 236 gold medal winners, 146 silver and 67 bronze. What’s even more impressive is that 39 of those gold medal winners finished with 63 points, meaning they achieved all 3 of their goals on all 21 days. I’d like to recognize them here:
