The wellness team at Protection 1, known as Every 1 Counts, is always looking for ways to engage our teammates in healthy habits and provide some recognition and prizes in the process. In 2015, one of the (many) ways we are doing this is by hosting a recipe contest every two weeks.
On the first Monday of the contest, we post the “magic ingredient” on our employee blog, which is one of the ingredients listed in Jonny Bowden’s “150 Healthiest Foods on Earth: The Surprising, Unbiased Truth about What You Should Eat and Why.” Then, all employees have until the end of the day on Thursday to post their favorite (healthy) recipes with the ingredient of the week. These recipes could be homemade concoctions or simply a link to a website with a recipe they like.
On Friday, we randomly select one of the entries to win a $25 gift card and then post all of the entries on the employee blog. Our employees then have the chance to make one of the recipes listed on the website and send in a picture of their final creation over the next week. At the end of the week, we randomly select one of the pictures to win a copy of the 150 Healthiest Foods book or a healthy cookbook, such as Skinnytaste.
This week, we jumped on the bandwagon and chose kale to be the magic ingredient (seriously, check out this story about a kale giveaway at a basketball game). Thankfully, we’re not the only ones in P1 making the jump as we’ve already received over 30 recipe submissions. The Every 1 Counts team is looking forward to seeing the final creations! What’s your favorite kale recipe?
