Like I mentioned earlier today, May is all about bikes. And in honor of Bike to Work Day, I’m back to talk with another P1 bike-enthusiasts, Craig Brady. Craig is our operations supervisor in our Topeka, Kansas branch and responsible for overseeing the top-notch field service our Topeka customers know and love.
Craig also happens to ride his bike to work almost every day. Here’s what he had to say about his daily biking routine:
How often do you ride your bike to work? What are the reasons that have prevented you from riding on work on certain days?
I ride almost every Monday-Friday from March to December. Snow, ice, heavy rain (normal rain is fun to ride in, with proper clothing) , and special professional meetings requiring a suit/tie are the only things that prevent me from riding.
Why did you start riding your bike to work?
The biggest reasons had to do with my health and time management – why drive to the gym to workout, when ¾ of the workout can be done on a bike?
How long did it take for this to become an everyday habit for you?
Not long……………it’s TOO MUCH FUN!
What benefits do you get out of riding your bike to work?
Lower blood pressure , weight control , gas savings , and a very happy morning person!
Have you convinced anyone else to bike to work?
Yes, some in other businesses here in Topeka.
Do you participate in other bike events?
This year I’m doing the Biking Across Kansas (BAK) event again which is a 507 mile bike ride across Kansas over the course of a week. This includes 900 people who all love bicycling and of course good food! You truly see more, and enjoy life as you and your new friends ride together across Kansas.
Anything else you want to add?
Bicycling to work just makes sense – it’s a great workout, keeps your mind sharp and you will have some great stories to tell.
Craig, thanks for sharing your story. Best of luck to you in the Biking Across Kansas ride next week – we can’t wait to hear all about it!
